**Literacy**

In Readers Workshop we will complete our nonfiction unit from Lucy Calkins, Becoming Experts – Reading Nonfiction. Throughout this unit the students learn to pay attention to details, look out for keywords, ask questions, reread like an expert, and more!

In Writers Workshop, the students will continue to improve their informational writing skills. They will practice using examples in their writing that they learned from mentor texts, researching their topic, and highlighting text features! They will publish their Nonfiction Pieces and celebrate their hard work as a class!

**Math**

Each day our VIP will continue to lead us through our calendar routine. This includes math skills they have practiced in First Grade and will continue to expand upon in Second Grade such as identifying the date, the days of the week, the months of the year, patterns, even and odd numbers, skip counting, place value, and more. We will begin Chapter 4, “2-Digit Addition” in our Go Math workbook this month. We will also practice using our math vocabulary such as sum, addends, and regrouping. We will practice 2-digit addition with and without regrouping, adding problems both vertically and horizontally, finding sums of three 2-digit numbers, and more! We will also complete our Math-ercise activity virtually on “Quizziz” as part of our weekly routine.
