~Literacy~

We are wrapping up Second Grade by reading Fairytales, Folktales, and Fables. We will be learning the differences between the three genres. After reading a variety of fairytales both original and fractured versions, we will study their elements and practice comparing and contrasting.

In writing we will revisit narrative writing! Your child wrote narrative pieces in the beginning of the year, where they crafted true stories about himself/herself. For these last few weeks of school, the level will be elevated to more third grade-like writing, pushing them to use everything they have learned this year to make magnifying small moments, by paying great attention to detail, and crafting powerful beginnings and endings.

~Math~

Each week we will continue to have our VIP lead us through the calendar routine. This includes the math skills we have learned and practiced all year long. Our class will work on Chapter 11, our final chapter in our “Go Math” books. Chapter 11 is titled “Geometry and Fraction Concepts. Throughout this chapter we are exploring two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes. The students will also be able to understand how to show equal parts of a shape. Finally, we will continue to challenge ourselves by completing our Math-ercise activities on Quizziz!
