Grandview PTO

Parent Teacher Organization

Who we are:
We are moms and dads, teachers, uncles and aunts, grandparents and friends who care about children and their education. We are your neighbors and we share the same concerns you do.

What we do: The PTO works to foster the development of a school community: a community that not only serves the school through volunteers, contributions, etc., but also its members by providing opportunities that build ties between families and school staff for the benefit of all Grandview students.

Why we do it: We could quote numerous studies that confirm the positive influence parent involvement has on student’s performance, but we suggest you simply look at your child’s face. If you haven’t experienced it before, just know that kids LOVE when their parents get involved in school. They love being the “authorities” on Grandview, giving you a tour, introducing you to staff and having all of their friends know you as “Jack’s Dad” or “Sally’s Mom”. When kids see a connection between their home lives and school, it reinforces education as a priority in your family. But just do it for their smiles! Trust us, it’s totally worth it.

The PTO is about parent involvement and community, not fundraising. We feel very strongly that were we to have to choose between raising funds and building a strong, vibrant school community, we would choose the latter, hands down. And if it truly does “take a village to raise a child”, giving our kids a strong sense of community, one that works together for a common purpose (supporting and enriching our children’s lives), is a great step in the right direction.
